Alexander KALYUZHNYUK, a postgraduate student of the Higher School of Theoretical Mechanics, became the winner of the Polytech Project grant competition in the category “Popular science events”. Now, together with his team, Alexander plans to launch a video blog about the career search “What the profession?”.
For more than half a year, the guys were thinking about creating their own scientific and technical show for students and young professionals. “The idea came even before the beginning of the pandemic to me, my postgraduate colleague Andrey MADALIEV, and the guys from the team with whom we prepared the video for the RedBull CanYouMakeIt contest, Anastasia KOLTUNOVA and Ilya VASILIEV. We were inspired by such projects as Youtube channels “вДудь”, “XYZ”, “Отвечает Менделеев”(“Mendeleev answers”), and podcasts “KuJi” and “Вещь не в себе”(“Thing-not-in-itself”)”, – says Alexander.
Winning the competition “Polytech Project” allowed the guys to shoot the pilot issues of the video blog and estimate how much the applicants who choose a specialty, and young professionals who choose a profession will be taken by this topic.
“In this blog, we will be interviewing representatives of professions, discussing their features, wondering what the viewer needs to do in the coming years to become a professional. What subjects to pay attention to, and during what classes you can sleep, where to undergo training in senior courses,” – explains Alexander KALYUZHNYUK. – “I see an urgent need in such format of career guidance content among the guys with whom I communicate, work, and teach. The situation is complemented by the data of opinion polls, according to which almost half of the students in Russia do not work in their specialty. Some people don’t see the opportunity, but others, on the contrary, are confused by the variety of specialties on the market e.g., in IT”.
